“Gold Plantation” is an artistic project inspired by research on Australian eucalyptus conducted by the team of doctor Mel Lintern, geochemist from the government agency CSIRO. It was found that these plants take from the depths of the earth water with metal particles. Because gold can be toxic, eucalyptus carries it through branches to the leaves that it throws to the ground. When the leaf decomposes, the whole process can be repeated. Gold particles in the leaves are invisible to the naked eye, but can be localized by researchers with use of specialized equipment, which can become a new method of looking for deposits of this metal. This method will be much less invasive to the ecosystem than the currently used test wells – until the decision will be made to start an industrial extraction…

Things can be seen as a category that is intimidating by way of its vast capacity. The Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography is a place where this vastness and diversity of inanimate matter classified as “things” is best experienced. Our exhibit is the story of things’ meanings told in their own words, through the works of contemporary artists, as well as objects from the abundant archaeological, ethnographic and numismatic collections of the Museum.

Magda Moskwa with the Guarantee of Culture Award

The list of laureates of the annual Guarantee of Culture Awards was announced on 25 April 2015 during a formal evening gala, which also celebrated the 10th birthday of TVP Kultura (Polish Public TV). Magda Moskwa gain award for “creative development of painting language and exploration of the problems of body. For develop a distinctive style and the technical skills”.

The retrospective exhibition of Magda Moskwa is a presentation of what constitutes one of the most original and consistent approaches to the medium of painting. Most important works of the last twenty years – paintings, objects, photographs, installations and pieces of clothing – will be displayed in ms2 till 16 may 2015.
